Description

Hamburger Soup is a hearty, nostalgic, and easy-to-make dish packed with lean ground beef, tender vegetables, and rich tomato-based broth. Itโ€™s the perfect cozy meal for busy weeknights or chilly evenings, delivering comfort in every bite.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 carrots, chopped
  • 2 celery stalks, chopped
  • 2โ€“3 medium potatoes, diced
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced or crushed tomatoes
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: Dash of Worcestershire sauce, chili flakes

Instructions

  1. In a large pot or Dutch oven, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned and crumbly. Drain excess fat if needed.
  2. Add chopped onions, carrots, and celery. Cook until onions are translucent and carrots begin to soften.
  3. Add garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Stir and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Pour in the tomatoes and beef broth. Stir well to combine.
  5. Add diced potatoes to the pot. Stir again.
  6. Cover and simmer over low heat for 25โ€“30 minutes, or until vegetables are tender and flavors have melded.
  7. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed. Add hot sauce if desired.
  8. Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

  • Prep veggies in advance to save time on busy nights.
  • Add a splash of cream or sour cream for a creamier version.
  • Customize with extra veggies like corn, peas, or green beans.
  • Swap ground beef for turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
  • Freeze leftovers in individual portions for easy meals later.
