Description
This Ground Turkey Spaghetti Sauce is hearty, flavorful, and packed with vegetables. Lean ground turkey is simmered with peppers, carrots, and onions in a rich tomato base seasoned with Italian herbs. Perfect over pasta or for meal prep.

- 2-3 carrots, finely chopped
- 1 green bell pepper, finely chopped
- 1 red bell pepper, finely chopped
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 pound ground turkey
- 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
- 1 can (6 oz) tomato paste
- 4-5 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/2 tablespoon dried oregano
- 1/2 tablespoon dried basil or Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt (more to taste)
- 1/2 teaspoon cracked black pepper
- 1/4-1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Heat a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium heat.
- Add olive oil and sauté the diced onion, carrots, and bell peppers for 6–8 minutes until softened.
- Add ground turkey, break it apart, and cook until browned and no longer pink.
- Stir in minced garlic and cook for 1 minute.
- Add tomato paste and stir for 2 minutes to deepen the flavor.
- Pour in crushed tomatoes and tomato sauce. Stir to combine.
- Add oregano, basil or Italian seasoning, sea salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes if using. Stir well.
- Simmer uncovered for 25–30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened.
- Serve over pasta or store for later use.
Notes
- Cook tomato paste thoroughly for richer flavor.
- Add a pinch of sugar if your tomatoes are acidic.
- Use fresh herbs at the end for extra brightness.
- Great for freezing and reheating on busy nights.
