Description

This Ground Beef and Potatoes recipe is a hearty, one-pan meal thatโ€™s perfect for busy weeknights. Made with seasoned ground beef, tender potatoes, and savory spices, this easy homemade dish is comforting and packed with flavor. Serve it on its own, or pair it with a side salad or steamed veggies for a complete meal.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 medium potatoes, diced into 1/2-inch cubes
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  • Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up as it cooks. Remove excess grease if needed.
  • Push the beef to one side of the skillet and add the remaining olive oil. Sautรฉ the diced onions and garlic until fragrant, about 2 minutes.
  • Add the diced potatoes, salt, pepper, smoked paprika, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, and red pepper flakes. Stir to combine.
  • Pour in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Cover and let simmer for 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the potatoes are tender.
  • Remove the lid and cook for another 2-3 minutes to let any excess liquid evaporate.
  • If using cheese, sprinkle it over the top and cover the pan for 1-2 minutes until melted.
  • Garnish with fresh parsley and serve warm.

Notes

  • Swap ground beef for ground turkey or sausage for a different twist.
  • Use sweet potatoes instead of regular potatoes for a slightly sweeter flavor.
  • Add chopped bell peppers or spinach for extra veggies.
