Halloumi:
- 225โ250g (8 oz) halloumi block (preferably Cyprus-made, PDO stamped)
- 2 tbsp olive oil
Optional Finishing Touches:
- 1 1/2 tbsp honey (or maple syrup)
- 1/2 tsp fresh thyme leaves (or 1/4 tsp white sesame seeds, 1 1/2 tbsp chopped walnuts or pistachios)
- 2โ3 pinches red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
Prepare the Halloumi:
- Cut halloumi into 0.4-0.5โ (1-1.25 cm) thick slices.
- Place on a paper towel and pat dry to remove excess moisture.
- Warm a serving plate (optional but recommended).
Fry the Halloumi:
- Heat olive oil in a non-stick pan over medium-high heat.
- Carefully place halloumi slices in the pan. Cook for 1ยฝ minutes, until golden and crispy.
- Flip gently using a spatula and a butter knife. Cook for another 1ยฝ minutes until golden.
- Transfer immediately to the warm plate.
Finish & Serve:
- Quickly drizzle with honey, sprinkle with thyme and optional red pepper flakes.
- Serve immediately while hot and crispy!

- Halloumi Handling Tip: Be gentle when slicing, as halloumi can have a natural split in the center.
