Instructions
- Combine Dry Ingredients:
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Combine Wet Ingredients:
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
- Make the Batter:
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and whisk until just combined (donโt overmix). The batter should be slightly lumpy.
- Heat the Oil:
- Pour about 2 inches of vegetable oil into a deep skillet or Dutch oven. Heat over medium-high heat to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC).
- Fry the Fries:
- Using a funnel or piping bag, drizzle the batter into the hot oil in long, thin strips to form fries. Work in batches to avoid overcrowding.
- Cook Until Golden:
- Fry for 2-3 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy. Flip with a slotted spoon or tongs.
- Drain and Cool:
- Remove from oil with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- Dust with Sugar:
- While still warm, dust generously with powdered sugar.
- Add Toppings:
- Drizzle with toppings of your choice (chocolate, caramel, fruit compote, whipped cream, etc.).
- Serve Immediately:
- Serve hot and enjoy!
