Scale
- 1 (11 oz) log of fresh goat cheese
- 1/3 cup tapioca flour
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup gluten-free panko breadcrumbs
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- Avocado oil or oil of choice for frying
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1 tsp red pepper flakes
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
Instructions
- Chill the goat cheese in the freezer for 10โ15 minutes until firm, then roll into 1-inch balls.
- Set up a dredging station with three bowls: one with tapioca flour, one with a beaten egg, and one with panko breadcrumbs mixed with paprika.
- Roll each goat cheese ball in tapioca flour, then dip into the egg, and finally coat with the seasoned breadcrumbs.
- Place the coated balls on a tray and refrigerate for 15โ20 minutes to help them set.
- Meanwhile, make the spicy honey by combining honey, red pepper flakes, and cayenne pepper in a small saucepan. Warm gently over low heat, then remove from heat and let steep.
- Heat about 1 inch of oil in a pan over medium heat. Once hot, fry the goat cheese balls in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 1โ2 minutes per side.
- Remove and drain on paper towels. Serve warm with a drizzle of spicy honey.
Notes
- Freezing the goat cheese slightly helps with easier rolling and frying.
- For extra crunch, double-coat the balls by repeating the egg and breadcrumb steps.
- Adjust the amount of cayenne pepper in the honey to suit your heat preference.
