- 500 g (17 oz) whole cheese block (Edam, Gouda, Mozzarella)
- 80 g (3/4 cup) all-purpose flour
- 1 pinch paprika powder
- 1 pinch ground black pepper
- 2 eggs
- 2 tbsp milk
- 200 g (2 cups) breadcrumbs
- 500 ml (2 cups) canola oil, for frying
Instructions
- Cut the cheese block into sticks or cubes as desired.
- In a shallow bowl, mix flour with paprika and black pepper.
- In another bowl, beat eggs with milk.
- Place breadcrumbs in a third bowl.
- Coat each cheese piece in flour mixture, then dip in egg mixture, and finally coat with breadcrumbs. For extra crispiness, repeat the egg and breadcrumb coating.
- Heat canola oil in a deep pan over medium heat.
- Fry the cheese pieces in batches until golden brown, about 2–3 minutes per side.
- Remove and drain on paper towels. Serve immediately while warm and melty.
Notes
- Serve with your favorite dipping sauce like marinara, ranch, or spicy mayo.
- Work quickly to fry the cheese to prevent melting too much.
- Can be prepared ahead and kept in the fridge before frying.
