Description

This fresh homemade salsa is bursting with vibrant flavors from ripe Roma tomatoes, spicy jalapeรฑos, and zesty lime. Perfect for dipping chips, topping tacos, or adding to your favorite Mexican dishes.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb Roma tomatoes, halved or quartered
  • 12 oz canned petite diced tomatoes, with their juice
  • 1/2 cup white onion, chopped
  • 1 jalapeรฑo pepper, roughly chopped, seeded
  • 1/3 cup fresh cilantro
  • 2 cloves garlic, roughly chopped
  • 1 Tbsp lime juice, from 1/2 fresh lime
  • 1/2 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 2 tsp salt, adjust to taste

Instructions

  1. In a blender or food processor, combine the Roma tomatoes, canned tomatoes, onion, jalapeรฑo, cilantro, garlic, lime juice, chili powder, cumin, and salt.
  2. Pulse the mixture until you reach your desired consistency (smooth or chunky).
  3. Taste and adjust the seasoning with more salt or lime juice if needed.
  4. Transfer the salsa to a bowl and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  5. Serve chilled with tortilla chips or as a topping for tacos, burritos, or grilled meats.

Notes

  • If you prefer a spicier salsa, leave some of the seeds in the jalapeรฑo or add an additional jalapeรฑo.
  • For a smoother salsa, blend it longer, or for a chunkier texture, pulse it less.
