- Cheese Danish:
- 1 lb puff pastry (2 sheets), thawed
- 8 oz cream cheese, room temperature
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 egg yolk, room temperature
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp lemon zest (from 1 lemon)
- 1 1/2 cups berries (blueberries, strawberries, raspberries)
- Egg Wash:
- 1 egg
- 1 Tbsp water
- Lemon Glaze:
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 tsp lemon zest
- 1 Tbsp fresh lemon juice
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Unfold puff pastry sheets on a lightly floured surface and cut into rectangles (about 4×6 inches each).
- In a medium bowl, beat cream cheese, granulated sugar, egg yolk, vanilla extract, and lemon zest until smooth.
- Spread the cream cheese mixture onto the center of each puff pastry rectangle, leaving a border around the edges. Top with berries.
- Fold the edges over slightly and press gently to create a border. Place on the prepared baking sheet.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and water to make the egg wash. Brush over the pastry edges.
- Bake for 18–22 minutes, until puff pastry is golden brown and cheese filling is set.
- While pastries bake, prepare the lemon glaze by whisking together powdered sugar, lemon zest, and lemon juice until smooth.
- Allow Danish pastries to cool slightly, then drizzle with lemon glaze and serve.
