Description

Easter Thumbprint Cookies are soft, buttery cookies filled with colorful frosting or chocolate, then topped with festive Easter sprinkles or candy eggs. These delightful treats are easy to make and perfect for spring celebrations!

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for dusting, optional)
  • 1/2 cup pastel-colored frosting or melted white chocolate
  • Sprinkles or mini candy eggs for decoration

Instructions

  • Preheat & Prep:
    Preheat oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  • Make the Dough:
    In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add egg yolks and vanilla extract, and mix until combined. Gradually add flour and salt, mixing until a dough forms.

  • Shape the Cookies:
    Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them on the prepared baking sheet about 2 inches apart. Use your thumb or the back of a spoon to gently press an indentation in the center of each cookie.

  • Bake:
    Bake for 12-14 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden. Remove from oven and gently press the centers again if they puffed up. Let cookies cool completely on a wire rack.

  • Fill & Decorate:
    Once cooled, fill the indentations with pastel-colored frosting or melted white chocolate. Decorate with festive sprinkles or mini candy eggs.

  • Serve & Enjoy:
