Ingredients in Easter Dirt Cake

Oreo Cookies

The base of this dirt cake is made with crushed Oreo cookies, giving it that crunchy, chocolatey โ€œdirtโ€ texture.

Cream Cheese

Cream cheese creates the smooth and rich base for the creamy filling. It adds just the right amount of tang to balance the sweetness.

Butter

Butter gives the filling a smooth and rich consistency, making every bite melt in your mouth.

Powdered Sugar

Powdered sugar sweetens the filling and helps it reach that perfect texture.

Vanilla Pudding Mix

Instant vanilla pudding mix gives the filling an extra creamy texture and a lovely sweetness.

Cool Whip

Cool Whip brings everything together and adds that light, airy texture to the filling.

Cadbury Mini Eggs

Crushed Cadbury Mini Eggs add that festive Easter touch, giving you a pop of color and extra sweetness in every bite.

How to Make Easter Dirt Cake

Crush the Oreos

Start by placing the Oreo cookies in a large Ziploc bag and crushing them until they resemble dirt. You can use a rolling pin or your hands to do this. Set aside some for topping later.

Prepare the Creamy Layer

In a large mixing bowl, beat together the cream cheese, butter, and powdered sugar until smooth and creamy. Then, add the vanilla pudding mix and Cool Whip. Continue to beat until everything is well combined and smooth.

Layer the Dirt Cake

In a trifle dish or a large bowl, layer the crushed Oreo cookies on the bottom to create the โ€œdirt.โ€ Follow that with a layer of the creamy mixture, spreading it evenly. Repeat the layers, ending with a layer of the cookie crumbs on top.

Decorate with Mini Eggs

Top the dirt cake with Cadbury Mini Eggs or any other Easter candies you like for a festive touch. You can also sprinkle some extra crushed Oreos on top for more โ€œdirt.โ€

Chill

Cover the dish and refrigerate the dirt cake for at least 4 hours or overnight. This helps the flavors meld together and allows the dessert to set.

Serve & Enjoy

Once itโ€™s chilled, serve this fun and delicious Easter Dirt Cake to your guests and enjoy the smiles it brings!

The picture appears to have actual chocolate cake on lower layer, not just Oreo crumbs. Is it really just the Oreos? If it is cake too it looks delicious, just want to understand if I missed something in the recipe. Thank you!
