Description

These Dubai Chocolate Donut Rolls are a luxurious twist on classic donuts, featuring soft King’s Hawaiian rolls, a crispy pistachio knafeh filling, and a rich chocolate glaze. Perfect for a quick dessert or a fancy treat, these easy homemade donut rolls are ready in just 20 minutes!


Ingredients

Pistachio Knafeh Filling:

  • 3 cups kataifi (100g)
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter, melted (56g)
  • 3/4 cup pistachio cream (210g)
  • Pinch of salt

Chocolate Glaze:

  • 100g chocolate (semi-sweet or preferred type)
  • 100g heavy cream (1/3 cup + 1 tbsp)
  • 1 tbsp oil

Assembly:

  • 12 King’s Hawaiian Sweet Rolls (1 pack)

Optional Icing:

 

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 24 tbsp heavy cream

Instructions

1. Prepare the Pistachio Knafeh Filling:

  1. Add kataifi to a large pan and break any long strands into smaller pieces.
  2. Mix in melted butter and cook over medium-low heat for about 10 minutes, stirring continuously until crispy and golden brown.
  3. Remove from heat and mix in pistachio cream and a pinch of salt.
  4. Let it cool for 5-10 minutes before using.

2. Make the Chocolate Glaze:

  1. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine chocolate, cream, and oil.
  2. Microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring between each, until smooth and glossy.

3. Assemble the Donut Rolls:

  1. Separate the rolls and use a sharp knife to cut a small hole on the side.
  2. Gently open the holes into pockets using your fingers.
  3. Fill each roll with crispy pistachio knafeh filling using a spoon.
  4. Dip each roll into the warm chocolate glaze, letting excess drip off.
  5. Place on a wire rack and let the glaze set for 5-10 minutes.

4. Optional Icing:

  1. Mix powdered sugar with heavy cream, adding 1 tbsp at a time, until a smooth drizzling consistency is achieved.
  2. Transfer to a piping bag, cut a small hole, and drizzle over donut rolls.
  3. Let set for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Use store-bought pistachio cream or make your own by blending roasted pistachios with sugar and cream.
  • Make sure the chocolate glaze is warm, not hot for easy dipping.

 

  • For extra crunch, sprinkle chopped pistachios on top of the glaze before it sets.
