Description

This Crockpot Applesauce is cozy, naturally sweet, and full of warm fall flavor. Made with apples, honey, cinnamon, and a hint of lemon, it’s the easiest homemade treat that tastes like apple pie in a bowl.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 3 pounds apples (about 8 large or 12 small), peeled, cored, and chopped
  • 1/4 cup honey, plus more to taste
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 1 small lemon, divided (juice and zest)

Instructions

  1. Peel, core, and roughly chop the apples. Add them to the crockpot.
  2. Add honey, cinnamon stick, pumpkin pie spice, and juice from half the lemon. Stir to coat the apples evenly.
  3. Cover and cook on LOW for 6–8 hours or HIGH for 3–4 hours, until the apples are soft and fragrant.
  4. Remove the cinnamon stick. Mash with a potato masher for chunky applesauce or blend with an immersion blender for smooth texture.
  5. Taste and adjust sweetness with more honey or lemon juice if needed.
  6. Let cool slightly, then serve warm or chill before storing in jars.

Notes

  • Mix apple varieties for richer flavor—sweet and tart apples make the best applesauce.
  • Leave the lid slightly open during the last 30 minutes to thicken the sauce.
  • Add a splash of vanilla or extra cinnamon for a flavor boost.
