Description

Crock Pot Frito Pie is a hearty and flavorful dish featuring seasoned ground beef, tomato sauce, and spices, all piled on top of crispy Frito chips and topped with your favorite garnishes like sour cream, cheddar cheese, and onions.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 2 cloves minced garlic
  • 1/2 small white onion, diced
  • 8 oz can tomato sauce
  • 6 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup low sodium beef broth
  • Frito corn chips (original or chili cheese flavor, it tastes great with both)
  • Optional toppings: sour cream, diced red onion, shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. In a skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add the minced garlic and diced onion to the beef, and sauté for 2–3 minutes until softened.
  3. Transfer the beef mixture to the crock pot and stir in the tomato sauce, tomato paste, chili powder, cumin, salt, and beef broth. Mix well.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 4–5 hours or on high for 2–3 hours, stirring occasionally.
  5. When ready to serve, layer Frito chips in individual bowls or a large serving dish. Spoon the beef mixture over the chips.
  6. Top with your favorite optional toppings such as sour cream, diced red onion, and shredded cheddar cheese.
  7. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

  • For added spice, use chili cheese Fritos or add jalapeños as a topping.
  • Make it a full meal by serving with a side of salad or vegetables.
  • Can also be topped with avocado or salsa for extra flavor.
