- 2 lbs lean ground beef, browned and drained
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- 1/2 cup cooking sherry or beef broth
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 10.75 oz can cream of mushroom soup
- 1 oz package Italian dressing mix
- 32 oz frozen tater tots, kept frozen
Instructions
- In a skillet, brown the ground beef and drain any excess fat.
- In a large bowl, mix together the melted butter, cooking sherry or beef broth, softened cream cheese, cream of mushroom soup, and Italian dressing mix until smooth.
- Add the browned beef to the mixture and stir until well combined.
- Place the frozen tater tots in the bottom of a greased crock pot.
- Pour the beef and cream mixture over the tater tots, spreading evenly.
- Cover and cook on low for 6–7 hours or on high for 3–4 hours, until hot and bubbly.
- Serve warm directly from the crock pot.
Notes
- Do not thaw the tater tots; they cook best from frozen to retain texture.
- Use beef broth for a non-alcoholic version.
- You can add shredded cheddar cheese on top during the last 30 minutes for extra richness.
