Scale
- 1/3 cup cilantro stems, finely chopped
- 1 1/2 teaspoons ginger, minced
- 1 tablespoon garlic, minced
- 8 ounces ground beef
- 1/2 teaspoon ground white pepper
- 1 tablespoon tapioca flour
- 1 stalk green onion, finely chopped
- 1 1/2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 1/2 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 egg
- Oil, enough for deep frying
- Wonton wrappers (about 20 pieces)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, cilantro stems, ginger, garlic, green onion, white pepper, tapioca flour, oyster sauce, soy sauce, salt, sugar, and egg. Mix well until fully combined.
- Lay out the wonton wrappers on a clean surface. Place about a teaspoon of filling in the center of each wrapper.
- Moisten the edges with water, then fold the wrapper over the filling to form a triangle or desired shape, pressing to seal tightly.
- Heat oil in a deep pan or wok over medium-high heat to about 350°F (175°C).
- Fry the wontons in batches for 2–3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove and drain on a paper towel–lined plate.
- Serve hot with sweet chili sauce, soy sauce, or your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
- Make sure the oil is hot enough before frying to achieve a crisp texture without absorbing too much oil.
- You can freeze uncooked wontons and fry them straight from frozen when needed.
- For a lighter version, try air frying or baking instead of deep frying.
