Description

These Crispy Cheese Eggs are the ultimate breakfast hack! A layer of melted cheese creates a crispy, golden crust on the bottom while the egg remains perfectly cooked on top. Quick, easy, and irresistibly delicious! Serve on toast or alongside avocado for a wholesome start to your day.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/3 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, parmesan, or a mix)
  • 1 tbsp butter or olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Optional: Fresh herbs or chili flakes for garnish

Instructions

  • Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add butter or olive oil.
  • Once the butter has melted or the oil is shimmering, sprinkle the shredded cheese evenly across the skillet.
  • Let the cheese melt and bubble for about 30 seconds.
  • Crack the eggs on top of the cheese, spacing them slightly apart. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Cover the skillet with a lid and cook for 2-3 minutes, or until the egg whites are set, but the yolks are still runny (cook longer if you prefer firmer yolks).
  • Carefully slide a spatula under the crispy cheese and eggs and transfer to a plate.
  • Serve immediately, garnished with fresh herbs or chili flakes, if desired.

Notes

  • Use any cheese that melts well, such as mozzarella, gouda, or a Mexican blend.
  • Adjust the heat to avoid burning the cheese. Medium-low heat works best for most stoves.
  • Enjoy these eggs on toast, in a breakfast sandwich, or as-is!
