Ingredients in Creamy Spinach and Eggs

Hereโ€™s what makes this dish so irresistible:

Spinach: The heart of the dish, adding a vibrant color and a boost of nutrients. You can use fresh or frozen, depending on what you have on hand.

Eggs: The star of the show, cooked to your preferred doneness. Whether you like them soft and runny or fully set, they add richness and protein.

Garlic: A small but mighty ingredient that adds depth and aroma to the dish.

Heavy Cream: This is what makes everything creamy and luscious, tying all the flavors together beautifully.

Parmesan Cheese: A little sprinkle goes a long way, giving the dish a savory, slightly nutty finish.

Butter: Helps to sautรฉ the garlic and gives a rich, buttery flavor to the spinach.

Salt & Pepper: The simplest seasonings, but they bring everything to life.

Instructions

Letโ€™s dive into the steps to create this flavorful masterpiece:

Sautรฉ the Garlic: In a pan over medium heat, melt the butter and sautรฉ the garlic until fragrant. This step releases its wonderful aroma and infuses the dish with flavor.

Add the Spinach: Stir in the spinach and cook until wilted. If using frozen spinach, make sure to squeeze out excess water before adding it to the pan.

Pour in the Cream: Reduce the heat and stir in the heavy cream. Let it simmer gently so it thickens slightly, creating that luxurious creamy texture.

Season to Taste: Sprinkle in the salt, pepper, and any other seasonings you love, adjusting to your preference.

Create Egg Pockets: Make small wells in the spinach mixture and carefully crack the eggs into them.

Cook the Eggs: Cover the pan and let the eggs cook until they reach your desired doneness. For runny yolks, keep an eye on them and remove from heat earlier.

Add the Cheese: Sprinkle Parmesan over the top for a final touch of savory goodness.

Serve and Enjoy: Plate it up and enjoy warm! Itโ€™s perfect on its own or with a slice of crusty bread.

How to Serve Creamy Spinach and Eggs

This dish pairs wonderfully with various sides and accompaniments:

  • Crusty Bread: Perfect for scooping up the creamy spinach and eggs.
  • Fresh Salad: A light side salad with a lemon vinaigrette balances the richness.
  • Roasted Potatoes: For an extra hearty meal, serve with crispy, golden potatoes.
  • Avocado Slices: The creaminess of avocado pairs beautifully with the eggs.

Additional Tips

  • Make It Dairy-Free: Swap the heavy cream for coconut milk and use olive oil instead of butter.
  • Spice It Up: Add a pinch of smoked paprika or cayenne pepper for extra depth.
  • Make Ahead: Prep the spinach mixture ahead of time and just add the eggs when ready to cook.
  • Storage: Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container and reheated gently.

This looks delicious but I have a question. Did you use heavy cream or Greek yogurt? In the article it says heavy cream but in the directions and list if ingredients it says Greek yogurt.
