- 1 1/2 pounds large shrimp, peeled and deveined, tails removed
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 cup half & half
- 1 lemon, sliced
- 1/2 cup parmesan cheese, plus more for garnish
- Zest of 1 lemon
- Chopped parsley, for garnish
Instructions
- Season shrimp with kosher salt and black pepper.
- In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add shrimp and cook 2–3 minutes per side until pink and opaque. Remove shrimp and set aside.
- In the same skillet, sprinkle in flour and stir to form a roux, cooking for 1 minute.
- Gradually whisk in half & half until smooth and slightly thickened.
- Add lemon slices, parmesan cheese, and lemon zest. Stir until cheese is melted and sauce is creamy.
- Return shrimp to the skillet and toss to coat in the sauce. Cook for an additional 1–2 minutes to heat through.
- Garnish with chopped parsley and extra parmesan before serving.
Notes
- Serve immediately over pasta, rice, or with crusty bread.
- Adjust lemon zest and slices to your taste for more tang.
- Do not overcook shrimp to prevent them from becoming rubbery.
