Juicy shrimp are cooked in a luscious garlic cream sauce, perfect for serving over pasta, rice, or with crusty bread. It’s a healthy homemade recipe that’s perfect for weeknights and special occasions alike.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 lb (450g) shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

Instructions

  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add shrimp, season with salt and pepper, and cook for 2-3 minutes per side until pink. Remove and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, melt butter and sauté garlic until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  • Pour in the chicken broth and scrape the bottom of the pan to deglaze.
  • Reduce heat to low, then add heavy cream, Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes. Stir until the sauce thickens.
  • Return shrimp to the pan and cook for another 2 minutes, coating them in the sauce.
  • Stir in lemon juice and chopped parsley. Adjust seasoning as needed.
  • Serve immediately over pasta, rice, or with crusty bread.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, use half-and-half instead of heavy cream.
  • Add spinach or sun-dried tomatoes for extra flavor.
  • Serve with zucchini noodles for a low-carb option.
