Dough
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon fine sea salt
- 3/4 cup whole milk, warmed
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg, room temperature
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Cranberry Orange Filling
- 2 cups fresh or frozen cranberries
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- Zest of 1 orange
- 2 tablespoons orange juice
- Pinch of salt
Orange Cream Cheese Glaze
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons orange juice
- Zest of 1/2 orange
Instructions
- In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm milk with a pinch of sugar. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt. Add melted butter, egg, vanilla, and yeast mixture. Knead until smooth and elastic, about 8–10 minutes.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1–1.5 hours.
- Meanwhile, prepare the filling: combine cranberries, sugar, orange zest, orange juice, and salt in a saucepan. Cook over medium heat until cranberries soften and mixture thickens. Cool completely.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface into a rectangle. Spread cooled cranberry filling evenly over the dough.
- Roll the dough tightly into a log and cut into 12 even rolls. Place rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise for 30–45 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake rolls for 25–30 minutes until golden brown.
- Prepare the glaze by beating cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, orange juice, and orange zest until smooth.
- Drizzle glaze over warm rolls before serving.
Notes
- Frozen cranberries can be used but should be thawed and drained.
- For extra flavor, sprinkle additional orange zest over the glaze.
- These rolls are best served warm but can be stored in an airtight container for 2–3 days.
- Optionally, toast some chopped nuts and sprinkle over the glaze for added texture.
