Ingredients

Units Scale

Dough

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 3/4 cup whole milk, warmed
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Cranberry Orange Filling

  • 2 cups fresh or frozen cranberries
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • Zest of 1 orange
  • 2 tablespoons orange juice
  • Pinch of salt

Orange Cream Cheese Glaze

  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons orange juice
  • Zest of 1/2 orange

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm milk with a pinch of sugar. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt. Add melted butter, egg, vanilla, and yeast mixture. Knead until smooth and elastic, about 8–10 minutes.
  3. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1–1.5 hours.
  4. Meanwhile, prepare the filling: combine cranberries, sugar, orange zest, orange juice, and salt in a saucepan. Cook over medium heat until cranberries soften and mixture thickens. Cool completely.
  5. Roll out the dough on a floured surface into a rectangle. Spread cooled cranberry filling evenly over the dough.
  6. Roll the dough tightly into a log and cut into 12 even rolls. Place rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise for 30–45 minutes.
  7. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake rolls for 25–30 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Prepare the glaze by beating cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, orange juice, and orange zest until smooth.
  9. Drizzle glaze over warm rolls before serving.

Notes

  • Frozen cranberries can be used but should be thawed and drained.
  • For extra flavor, sprinkle additional orange zest over the glaze.
  • These rolls are best served warm but can be stored in an airtight container for 2–3 days.
  • Optionally, toast some chopped nuts and sprinkle over the glaze for added texture.
