Description

Light as air and irresistibly soft, this Cloud Cake is a simple yet delightful dessert. Perfect for tea time, celebrations, or when you crave a fluffy treat!


Ingredients

  • 4 eggs
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • A pinch of salt
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC). Grease and flour a round cake pan.
  • Separate the egg whites from the yolks. In a clean bowl, beat the egg whites with a pinch of salt until stiff peaks form.
  • In another bowl, beat the egg yolks and sugar until pale and fluffy. Add the milk, oil, and vanilla extract, and mix well.
  • Sift the flour and baking powder into the egg yolk mixture and gently fold to combine.
  • Gradually fold the beaten egg whites into the batter, being careful not to deflate them.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Once cooled, dust the top with powdered sugar.

Notes

  • For a citrus twist, add a teaspoon of lemon zest to the batter.
  • Serve with fresh berries or a dollop of whipped cream for an extra touch.
