Description

These Classic Apple Fritters are crispy on the outside, soft and flavorful on the inside, and coated with a sweet glaze. A perfect breakfast treat or dessert, they come together in just 25 minutes!


Ingredients

To Soften the Apples:

  • 1 tablespoon Butter
  • 2 large Crisp apples, peeled, cored, and diced (1/4-inch cubes)
  • 1 tablespoon White sugar

For the Batter:

  • 1 1/4 cups Flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cinnamon powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Ginger powder
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1/4 cup White sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Melted butter
  • 1/2 cup Apple cider vinegar*

For the Sugar Glaze:

  • 1/2 cup Icing sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Milk (adjust as needed)

Instructions

Cook the Apples:

  1. In a frying pan, melt butter over medium heat until it turns golden brown.
  2. Add diced apples and cook for 3-4 minutes until slightly softened.
  3. Sprinkle in 1 tablespoon sugar and continue cooking for 2 more minutes.
  4. Remove from heat, drain apples, and let them cool to room temperature.

Prepare the Batter & Fry the Fritters:

  1. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and ginger powder until combined.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk egg, ยผ cup sugar, and melted butter. Add cooled apples and apple cider vinegar, followed by the flour mixture. Stir until just combined.
  3. Heat 2 cups of oil in a deep fryer or saucepan to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC).
  4. Drop 2 tablespoons of batter per fritter into the hot oil, flattening slightly. Fry for 2 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy.
  5. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Glaze & Enjoy!

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together icing sugar and milk (adjust milk as needed) until smooth and runny.
  2. Drizzle over warm fritters and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Apple cider vinegar adds a subtle tang, but you can substitute with buttermilk or milk.
  • Best enjoyed fresh but can be reheated in an air fryer or oven for crispiness.
