Description

Cinnamon Sugar Puff Pastry Squares are golden, flaky pastries coated in cinnamon sugar, served with light and creamy vanilla whipped cream. Optional fresh fruit adds a burst of color and flavor, making this a perfect dessert or brunch treat.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 2 puff pastry sheets, thawed
  • Vanilla Whipped Cream: 2 cups heavy whipping cream, 1/3 cup powdered sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Assorted fruit, optional

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and vanilla extract to make an egg wash.
  3. In another bowl, mix granulated sugar and ground cinnamon.
  4. Unfold the puff pastry sheets and cut into squares of desired size.
  5. Brush each square with the egg wash and sprinkle generously with the cinnamon sugar mixture.
  6. Place the squares on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 15–20 minutes or until puffed and golden brown.
  7. While pastries are baking, beat heavy whipping cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form to make vanilla whipped cream.
  8. Serve the warm puff pastry squares with a dollop of vanilla whipped cream and optional fresh fruit.

Notes

  • Ensure puff pastry is fully thawed before baking to achieve maximum puffiness.
  • Use a sharp knife or pizza cutter for clean pastry squares.
  • Pastries are best served fresh but can be reheated in a warm oven for a few minutes.
  • Optional: dust with powdered sugar before serving for extra sweetness and presentation.
