Description

Crispy fried chicken pieces tossed in a glossy sweet and savory sauce with bell peppers and onions. A takeout style favorite made at home, full of bold flavor and satisfying crunch.


Ingredients

  • Bell peppers, 2 medium
  • Onion, 1 medium
  • Soy sauce, 3 tablespoons
  • Cornstarch, 1/2 cup
  • All-purpose flour, 1/2 cup
  • Large eggs, 2
  • Neutral cooking oil, for frying
  • Green onions, 2 stalks

Instructions

  1. Heat neutral cooking oil in a deep skillet or pot over medium heat.
  2. In a bowl, whisk the eggs until smooth.
  3. In another bowl, mix the cornstarch and all-purpose flour.
  4. Dip the chicken pieces into the eggs, then coat evenly with the cornstarch and flour mixture.
  5. Fry the chicken in batches for 3 to 4 minutes until golden and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  6. In a separate pan, lightly sauté the sliced bell peppers and onion until just tender.
  7. Add the soy sauce to the vegetables and stir briefly.
  8. Add the fried chicken to the pan and toss gently until evenly coated.
  9. Remove from heat, garnish with sliced green onions, and serve hot.
