Description

Chocolate Walnut Banana Bread is a rich, moist loaf that combines the sweetness of ripe bananas with the deep flavor of cocoa and the crunch of toasted walnuts. This ultimate one-bowl recipe is easy, indulgent, and perfect for breakfast, dessert, or snacking.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt or sour cream
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts (toasted preferred)
  • 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, mash bananas. Stir in melted butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla until smooth.
  3. Add flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Mix until just combined.
  4. Fold in Greek yogurt, walnuts, and chocolate chips (if using).
  5. Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread evenly.
  6. Bake for 55–65 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean (with a few moist crumbs).
  7. Cool in pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.

Notes

  • For extra moisture, use very ripe bananas with brown spots.
  • Store at room temperature for 2–3 days or freeze slices for up to 3 months.
  • Top with extra walnuts or chocolate chips before baking for a prettier loaf.
