- 3 ripe bananas, mashed
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt or sour cream
- 1 cup chopped walnuts (toasted preferred)
- 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- In a large bowl, mash bananas. Stir in melted butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla until smooth.
- Add flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Mix until just combined.
- Fold in Greek yogurt, walnuts, and chocolate chips (if using).
- Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread evenly.
- Bake for 55–65 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean (with a few moist crumbs).
- Cool in pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
Notes
- For extra moisture, use very ripe bananas with brown spots.
- Store at room temperature for 2–3 days or freeze slices for up to 3 months.
- Top with extra walnuts or chocolate chips before baking for a prettier loaf.
