A rich and indulgent Chocoflan featuring a moist chocolate cake base topped with silky cream cheese flan and finished with a glossy caramel glaze. A stunning layered dessert perfect for celebrations.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 can (12 ounces) evaporated milk
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 3/4 cup caramel sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Prepare a water bath by filling a roasting pan halfway with water.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, mix sugar, 2 eggs, whole milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Combine wet and dry ingredients to form the chocolate cake batter.
  5. Grease a bundt or round cake pan and pour caramel sauce evenly over the bottom.
  6. Pour chocolate batter into the prepared pan.
  7. In a blender, combine sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, cream cheese, and remaining 2 eggs. Blend until completely smooth.
  8. Gently pour the flan mixture over the chocolate batter.
  9. Place the cake pan into the prepared water bath.
  10. Bake for 60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the cake layer comes out clean and the flan is set with a slight jiggle.
  11. Remove from oven and allow to cool completely.
  12. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  13. Run a knife along the edges, place a serving plate on top, and carefully flip to unmold.
  14. Slice and serve chilled.

Notes

  • Pour the flan mixture slowly over the back of a spoon to prevent mixing layers.
  • Always use a water bath for even cooking and smooth texture.
  • Chill completely before unmolding for clean layers.
  • Store covered in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
