Scale
- 4 russet potatoes
- Vegetable oil for frying
- 3 teaspoons Tony’s Original Creole Seasoning
- 1 can condensed cheese soup
- 1/4 cup whole milk
- 2 teaspoons Tony’s Original Creole Seasoning
- 1 sweet onion, diced
- 2 pounds lean ground beef
- 2 cans petite diced tomatoes
- 8 ounces tomato sauce
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 box Tony’s Original Chili Seasoning Mix (or mild if preferred)
- 2 cups beef broth
- 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
Instructions
- Peel and cut russet potatoes into fries. Rinse and pat dry.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry the potatoes in batches until golden brown and crispy. Drain on paper towels and season with 3 teaspoons Creole seasoning.
- In a saucepan, combine condensed cheese soup, whole milk, and 2 teaspoons Creole seasoning. Heat over medium, stirring until smooth. Set aside.
- In a large skillet, sauté diced onion until translucent.
- Add ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned. Drain excess fat if necessary.
- Stir in diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, chili seasoning mix, and beef broth. Simmer over medium heat for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until chili thickens.
- Arrange fries on a serving platter. Pour cheese sauce over fries, then spoon chili on top.
- Sprinkle shredded sharp cheddar cheese over the chili while hot, allowing it to melt.
- Serve immediately for best flavor and texture.
Notes
- For extra crispiness, double-fry the fries: fry once at a lower temperature, then again at a higher temperature.
- Adjust the chili seasoning mix for desired spice level.
- Ground beef can be substituted with ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
- Garnish with sliced jalapeños or chopped green onions for added flavor.
- Serve immediately to prevent fries from becoming soggy under the chili.
