Salsa:
- 8 tomatillos, husked
- 3 serrano peppers
- 1 white onion, diced
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 cup water
- Fresh cilantro, to taste
- 1 teaspoon chicken bouillon
- Black pepper, to taste
- Cumin, to taste
Instructions
Salsa:
- Boil the tomatillos and serrano peppers in a saucepan with water for about 10 minutes, or until softened.
- Blend the boiled tomatillos, serrano peppers, onion, garlic, cilantro, chicken bouillon, black pepper, and cumin in a blender until smooth.
- Adjust seasoning to taste, adding more chicken bouillon, cumin, or black pepper if desired. Set aside.
To Assemble Tostadas:
- Shred cooked chicken (rotisserie chicken works great for a quick meal).
- Heat your tostada shells in the oven or on the stovetop until crispy.
- Spread a thin layer of salsa on each tostada shell.
- Top with shredded chicken and additional salsa.
- Garnish with cilantro and serve with extra lime wedges on the side.
Notes
- Feel free to add toppings like shredded lettuce, sour cream, or cheese for extra flavor.
- Store leftover salsa in the fridge for up to 3 days.
- Adjust the heat of the salsa by using more or fewer serrano peppers.
