Description

These Cheesy Stuffed Chicken Rolls are packed with flavor, featuring tender chicken in a rich, spiced sauce, gooey melted cheese, and sweet caramelized onions. Perfect for a comforting meal or an indulgent snack!

Chicken Mixture:

  • 25g butter
  • 20ml olive oil
  • 500g chicken thighs, diced
  • 2g cayenne powder
  • 3g red bell pepper powder
  • 3g onion powder
  • 2g garlic powder
  • 2g chicken seasoning
  • 1g dried parsley
  • 25g sweet soy sauce (ketjap manis)
  • 10g soy sauce
  • 15g sambal
  • 100ml heavy cream
  • 50g grated cheese

Onion Mixture:

  • 125g yellow onion, chopped
  • 125g grated cheese
  • 5g fresh parsley, chopped

For Serving:

  • Cheddar cheese (for topping)

Coating:

  • 12 bread rolls

Instructions

  • Cook the Chicken:

    • Heat butter and olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
    • Add the diced chicken, cayenne, red bell pepper powder, onion powder, garlic powder, chicken seasoning, and dried parsley.
    • Cook for 4-5 minutes until the chicken is browned.
  • Make the Sauce:

    • Add the sweet soy sauce, sambal, soy sauce, and heavy cream to the skillet.
    • Increase the heat to high and let the sauce thicken slightly, stirring occasionally.
  • Add the Cheese:

    • Remove the skillet from the heat and stir in the grated cheese.
    • Set the mixture aside.
  • Caramelize the Onions:

    • In the same skillet, cook the chopped onion over medium heat for 5-7 minutes until caramelized.
  • Prepare the Onion Topping:

    • In a bowl, mix the caramelized onion, grated cheese, and fresh parsley.
  • Prepare the Rolls:

    • Cut the bread rolls in half and remove some of the inside to create a hollow.
  • Assemble & Bake:

    • Fill each roll with a layer of grated cheese and the chicken mixture.
    • Top with the onion mixture.
    • Place the stuffed rolls in a baking dish and bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (390°F) for 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted.
