Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Filling:

  • 6 slices bacon, chopped
  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 lean)
  • 1 large yellow onion, finely diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp Kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese

For the Crust:

  • 3/4 cup baking mix (such as Bisquick)
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3 large eggs
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

1. Prepare the Oven & Pie Dish:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Lightly grease a 9-inch pie dish or similar-sized baking dish.

2. Cook the Bacon:

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the chopped bacon until crispy.
  2. Remove and place on a paper towel-lined plate. Keep a small amount of bacon drippings in the pan for extra flavor.

3. Cook the Beef & Onions:

  1. In the same skillet, add the ground beef and diced onion.
  2. Cook over medium heat, breaking up the beef, until browned and the onion is softened.
  3. Stir in the garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.

4. Season & Assemble the Filling:

  1. Mix in the Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
  2. Return ⅔ of the cooked bacon to the skillet and stir to combine.
  3. Transfer the meat mixture to the prepared pie dish.
  4. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly on top.

5. Prepare & Pour the Batter:

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the Bisquick, milk, and eggs until smooth.
  2. Pour the batter over the meat and cheese, ensuring it covers everything evenly.

6. Bake & Serve:

  1. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
  2. Let the pie rest for 5-8 minutes before slicing.
  3. Garnish with the remaining bacon and fresh parsley.
  4. Serve with optional burger toppings like mustard, ketchup, or pickles.

Notes

Storage & Tips:

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 10 minutes.
  • Add a drizzle of ketchup, mustard, or a dollop of sour cream for extra burger flavor.
