Instructions
- Prepare the Onions: Start by slicing your onions thinly. In a skillet, melt a tablespoon of butter over medium heat and add the onions. Cook them slowly, stirring occasionally, until they are caramelized and golden brown—this should take about 15-20 minutes.
- Assemble the Sandwich: While the onions are cooking, take two slices of bread and spread butter on one side of each slice. Place one slice, butter-side down, on a clean surface. Layer with cheese, followed by the cooked onions, and top with the second slice of bread, butter-side up.
- Toast the Sandwich: In the same skillet used for the onions, place the assembled sandwich over medium-low heat. Toast it for about 3-4 minutes on each side until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted. You can press down slightly with a spatula to ensure even cooking.
