- 2-1/4 cups all-purpose flour, divided
- 2 cups quick-cooking oats
- 1-1/2 cups packed brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1-1/2 cups cold butter, cubed
- 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup chopped pecans
- 1 jar (12 ounces) caramel ice cream topping
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, combine 2 cups flour, oats, brown sugar, baking soda, and salt.
- Cut in cold butter until mixture is crumbly. Press half of this mixture into the prepared pan to form the bottom layer.
- Bake for 10 minutes, then remove from oven.
- Sprinkle chocolate chips and chopped pecans evenly over the partially baked crust.
- Drizzle caramel topping over the chocolate and nut layer.
- Mix remaining 1/4 cup flour with the leftover crumb mixture and sprinkle on top.
- Bake for an additional 25-30 minutes, until golden brown.
- Allow to cool completely before cutting into bars and serving.
Notes
- You can substitute walnuts or almonds for pecans if preferred.
- For extra gooeyness, warm the caramel slightly before drizzling.
- Store bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for longer shelf life.
