Description

These Cajun-spiced deviled eggs are topped with crispy fried shrimp tossed in a tangy, sweet-heat firecracker sauce. A bold and flavorful twist on a classic appetizer, perfect for parties, gatherings, and special occasions!

Deviled Eggs

  • 12 hard-boiled eggs, peeled
  • 1/2 tsp paprika (for garnish)

Yolk Filling

  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tsp yellow mustard
  • 2 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 1/2 tbsp sweet relish
  • 23 tsp buffalo sauce or hot sauce
  • 1 tsp Cajun seasoning
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 tbsp chives, diced (plus extra for garnish)

Firecracker Sauce

  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup buffalo sauce or Sriracha (adjust to heat preference)
  • 1/4 cup sweet chili sauce

Fried Shrimp

  • 24 shrimp, peeled, deveined, tails removed (2130 count per lb)
  • 2 eggs, whisked (for dredging)
  • 1/2 bag Fish Fry breading mix
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp Cajun seasoning (salt-free)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  • Prepare the Eggs:

    • Slice hard-boiled eggs in half and remove yolks.
    • Place yolks in a bowl and refrigerate egg whites.
  • Make the Yolk Filling:

    • Mash yolks with mayonnaise, mustards, relish, hot sauce, Cajun seasoning, salt, pepper, and chives until smooth (use an immersion blender if needed).
    • Refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
  • Fill the Eggs:

    • Transfer yolk mixture to a piping bag or zip-top bag, snip the corner, and pipe into egg whites.
    • Sprinkle with paprika and refrigerate.
  • Fry the Shrimp:

    • Heat oil in a skillet to 350°F (175°C).
    • Season shrimp with Cajun seasoning, salt, and pepper.
    • Dip shrimp in whisked eggs, then coat with Fish Fry breading.
    • Fry for about 2 minutes per side until golden.
    • Drain on paper towels.
  • Prepare the Firecracker Sauce:

    • In a bowl, whisk mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, and hot sauce until smooth.
    • Toss warm shrimp in the sauce.
  • Assemble & Serve:

    • Top each deviled egg with a piece of firecracker shrimp.
    • Garnish with extra chives and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra crunch, double-dredge the shrimp before frying.
  • Adjust the firecracker sauce to your preferred spice level.
  • Make the deviled eggs ahead and fry shrimp just before serving for best texture.
