Description

Soft and fluffy small batch garlic knots brushed with rich brown butter, fresh garlic, parmesan, and green onions, baked until golden and perfect as a savory side or snack.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1.5 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • 0.75 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 cup warm water
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 0.25 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons fresh green onions, finely sliced

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine all purpose flour, instant yeast, granulated sugar, and salt.
  3. Add warm water and mix until a soft dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 5 to 7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place dough in a bowl, cover, and let rise for 45 minutes or until doubled in size.
  6. Divide dough into 6 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a rope and tie into a knot.
  7. Place knots on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 12 to 15 minutes until lightly golden brown.
  8. While knots bake, melt unsalted butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Continue cooking until butter turns golden brown and smells nutty.
  9. Remove butter from heat and stir in minced garlic.
  10. Brush warm knots generously with the brown butter mixture and sprinkle with grated parmesan cheese and sliced green onions before serving.

Notes

  • Use warm, not hot, water to properly activate the yeast.
  • Do not overbake to keep the knots soft and fluffy.
  • Brown the butter carefully to avoid burning.
  • Reheat leftovers in the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for best texture.
