- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 egg
- 1 cup breadcrumbs or panko
- 2 cups frozen French fries
- 4 sandwich buns
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 1 teaspoon mustard
- 1 teaspoon hot sauce (optional)
- Lettuce, tomato slices, and pickles (optional)
- Cooking oil for frying
Instructions
- Prepare the Chicken:
- Slice chicken breasts into fillets or tender-sized pieces.
- In a bowl, mix salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- Add the chicken to the bowl with buttermilk and marinate for 15 minutes.
- Coat the Chicken:
- Set up three bowls: one with flour, one with a whisked egg, and one with breadcrumbs.
- Dip each chicken piece into the flour, then the egg, then coat with breadcrumbs.
- Fry the Chicken:
- Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry the chicken for 4–5 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through.
- Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- Cook the Fries:
- Bake or fry the French fries according to package instructions.
- Assemble the Sandwich:
- Mix mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, and hot sauce to make a sauce.
- Spread sauce on the sandwich buns.
- Add lettuce, tomato, pickles (if using), crispy chicken, and a handful of fries.
- Top with the bun and serve immediately!

- Swap out regular fries for sweet potato fries for a twist!
- Use an air fryer for a healthier version of both chicken and fries.
