Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Dough:

  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour

For the Filling:

  • 1 cup fresh blueberries
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter

For the Frosting:

  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Prepare the Yeast Mixture: In a large bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm milk with 1 teaspoon of sugar. Let sit until frothy, about 10 minutes.
  • Make the Dough: To the yeast mixture, add the remaining sugar, melted butter, salt, and eggs. Gradually mix in the flour until a soft dough forms. Knead on a floured surface until smooth, about 5-7 minutes.
  • First Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp towel, and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  • Prepare the Filling: In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar and cinnamon. Roll out the dough into a 16×12-inch rectangle, brush with melted butter, sprinkle with the cinnamon sugar, and evenly scatter blueberries on top.
  • Form the Rolls: Starting from the long side, roll the dough tightly into a log and pinch the edges to seal. Cut into 12 equal pieces and place in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
  • Second Rise: Cover the rolls and let them rise in a warm place until puffed, about 30 minutes.
  • Bake: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 25 minutes, or until golden brown.
  • Make the Frosting: In a medium bowl, beat together cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
  • Finish: Spread the frosting on the warm rolls before serving.

Notes

  • Substitute frozen blueberries if fresh ones are unavailable, but thaw and drain them before using.
  • Add a tablespoon of lemon zest to the frosting for a citrusy twist.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days and reheat before serving.
