Description

These flavorful Bison Meatballs are quick to prepare and cook in under 20 minutes! With a blend of spices and fresh herbs, theyโ€™re perfect for a snack, appetizer, or served with marinara sauce for a delicious dinner.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 lb ground bison
  • 1 egg, whisked
  • 1/4 cup almond flour
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, minced
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground pepper

Instructions

  1. Prep: Preheat the oven to 400ยฐF. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Mix: In a large bowl, combine all ingredients. Mix together thoroughly with your hands until everything is well incorporated.
  3. Shape: Form the mixture into 1 ยฝ inch balls (about two tablespoons) and place them on the prepared baking sheet. Repeat until all the meat is used, making about 12-14 meatballs.
  4. Bake: Cook for 15-16 minutes, flipping halfway through. The meatballs should be slightly brown on each side.
  5. Serve: Optional: To serve with marinara sauce, heat the sauce in a medium saucepan and add the meatballs. Let them simmer for 2-4 minutes to coat in the sauce.

Notes

  • Chill the meat mixture before rolling the meatballs to help them stick together and cook evenly.
  • Make sure the ingredients are thoroughly mixed for even flavor distribution.
  • If using marinara sauce, simmer the meatballs in the sauce for a few minutes before serving.
  • Bison is lean, so a bit of water-and-protein release may occur. Simply brush it off or spoon it away once the meatballs are done cooking.
