  • 5 cups milk
  • 3 tsp salt, or to taste
  • 2 tsp black pepper, or to taste

For the Biscuit Topping:

  • 1 large egg, beaten

Instructions

1. Prepare the Sausage Gravy:

  5. Slowly pour in the milk while whisking continuously to prevent clumps. Bring to a boil and cook for 2-3 minutes, until slightly thickened.
  6. Return the cooked sausage to the skillet, stirring to combine.
  7. Add salt and pepper to taste. Let simmer for 30-60 seconds on low heat.

2. Assemble the Casserole:

  1. Grease a 9โ€ณx13โ€ณ baking dish and pour in the sausage gravy.
  2. Cut each biscuit into 4 pieces and evenly spread them over the gravy.
  3. In a small bowl, beat the egg and brush over the biscuit pieces.

3. Bake and Serve:

  1. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and fully cooked.
  2. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

  • Extra Flavor: Add a pinch of cayenne or smoked paprika for a slight kick.
  • Make It Spicier: Use spicy sausage or add red pepper flakes to the gravy.
  • Dairy-Free Option: Swap milk for unsweetened almond or oat milk and use a dairy-free butter substitute.
