- 1 lb beef stew meat (or other cut of beef for stewing)
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1/4 cup flour
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4–5 medium potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/2 cup milk
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Brown the beef on all sides and remove from the skillet.
- In the same skillet, add the diced onion and minced garlic. Cook until softened, about 2 minutes.
- Add the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper to the skillet. Stir in the flour to thicken the gravy, simmering for 10-15 minutes.
- Meanwhile, boil the potatoes in a pot of salted water until fork-tender, about 15 minutes. Drain and return to the pot.
- Mash the potatoes with butter, milk, salt, and pepper until smooth and creamy.
- Serve the beef and gravy over the mashed potatoes.
