Description

Tender, juicy barbecue ribs slathered in a rich homemade BBQ sauce that balances sweet, tangy, and smoky flavors. Perfect for summer cookouts or a cozy weekend dinner.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 racks x 700g (1.5 pound) pork ribs, seasoned
  • 300 g (1 1/3 cup) ketchup
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 80 g (1/4 cup) brown sugar
  • 60 ml (1/4 cup) apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp smoked paprika powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 4 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp mustard
  • 80 ml (1/3 cup) water

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 150°C (300°F).
  2. Place the seasoned pork ribs on a baking tray lined with foil.
  3. In a saucepan, combine ketchup, tomato paste, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, honey, mustard, and water.
  4. Cook the sauce over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until it thickens slightly, about 10–15 minutes.
  5. Brush the ribs generously with the BBQ sauce.
  6. Cover the ribs with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 2–2.5 hours, until tender.
  7. Remove foil and brush ribs with more BBQ sauce. Increase oven temperature to 220°C (425°F) and bake for an additional 10–15 minutes to caramelize the sauce.
  8. Serve hot with extra BBQ sauce on the side.

Notes

  • For extra smoky flavor, finish the ribs on a grill instead of the oven.
  • You can make the BBQ sauce ahead and store it in the fridge for up to a week.
  • Adjust sweetness or tanginess of the sauce to taste by adding more brown sugar or vinegar.
