Description

This cheesy, comforting baked ravioli is the perfect weeknight dinner! Layers of tender cheese ravioli, rich meat sauce, and gooey mozzarella cheese come together for a hearty and delicious meal. With minimal prep and simple ingredients, this is a family favorite you’ll make again and again!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 25 oz frozen cheese ravioli
  • 3/4 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp dried basil
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp olive oil

Instructions

Step 1: Prep the Oven

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F.
  2. Grease an 8×8-inch baking dish and set aside.

Step 2: Cook the Beef & Sauce

  1. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Drain any excess grease.
  2. In a small saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Stir in crushed tomatoes, basil, and black pepper. Bring to a low simmer, then remove from heat.

Step 3: Layer the Ravioli

  1. Spoon ½ cup of sauce into the bottom of the greased baking dish.

  2. Add ⅓ of the frozen ravioli in a single layer.

  3. Sprinkle with ⅓ of the ground beef and ¼ cup mozzarella cheese.

  4. Pour about 1 cup of sauce over the layer.

  5. Repeat the layers: ravioli, ground beef, cheese, and sauce.

  6. For the final layer, add the remaining ravioli, ground beef, and sauce. Ensure the sauce completely covers the ravioli.

  7. Top with the remaining mozzarella cheese.

Step 4: Bake the Ravioli

  1. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  2. Remove the foil and bake for 10 more minutes, or until the cheese is golden and bubbly.
  3. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add Parmesan cheese or Italian seasoning to the sauce.
  • Want it creamy? Mix in ½ cup ricotta cheese between the layers.
  • Make it meatless by skipping the ground beef and adding sautéed spinach or mushrooms.
  • Leftovers store well in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat at 350°F for 15 minutes.
