Description

Everything you love about jalapeno poppers wrapped up in a crispy puff pastry pinwheel! These Baked Jalapeno Popper Pinwheels are filled with a creamy cheese mixture, bacon, and gooey cheddar cheese – the perfect appetizer or snack for any occasion!

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed according to package instructions)

  • 4 ounces (1/2 block) cream cheese (softened to room temperature)

  • 1/3 cup diced pickled jalapeños

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon onion powder

  • 1 teaspoon seasoned salt

  • 1 teaspoon poultry seasoning (optional)

  • 1/4 teaspoon chili powder (optional)

  • 1 cup shredded or diced cooked chicken

  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (divided use)

  • 1/3 cup cooked, chopped bacon

  • Pickled jalapeno slices (for topping, optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.

  • Prepare puff pastry: Unroll 1 sheet of puff pastry on a flat surface. Ensure seams are pinched closed. Set aside.

  • Make the filling: In a medium-sized bowl, combine the cream cheese, diced pickled jalapeños, garlic powder, onion powder, seasoned salt, poultry seasoning (if using), and chili powder (if using). Mix until smooth.

  • Add chicken and cheese: Mix in the shredded cooked chicken and 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese. Continue mixing until the filling is smooth.

  • Spread the filling: Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the puff pastry sheet, leaving a ½-inch border on the sides.

  • Add bacon: Sprinkle the cooked, chopped bacon evenly over the cream cheese mixture.

  • Roll and chill: Roll the pastry sheet into a log, lengthwise. Optionally, place the log in the freezer for about 10 minutes to firm up, making it easier to slice.

  • Cut and top: Using a serrated knife, cut the log into 12 even pieces. Place the pinwheels on the prepared baking sheet. Sprinkle each piece with the remaining ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese and top with pickled jalapeno slices (optional).

  • Bake: Bake for 25 minutes or until golden brown. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

  • You can swap the cooked chicken for turkey or leave it out for a vegetarian version.

  • If you want extra heat, add more jalapeños or a dash of cayenne pepper.

  • For an extra crispy edge, brush the pinwheels with a little melted butter before baking.
