Description

Flaky puff pastry squares topped with melted mozzarella, juicy cherry tomatoes, and fresh basil, drizzled with balsamic glaze for a classic Caprese flavor in a bite-sized appetizer.


Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 16 ounces fresh mozzarella, sliced or small mozzarella balls
  • 1 container cherry or grape tomatoes
  • Fresh basil leaves
  • Sea salt flakes or finishing salt, to taste
  • Balsamic glaze for drizzling
  • All-purpose flour for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Lightly dust the work surface with flour and roll out puff pastry. Cut into 2×2 inch squares and place on prepared sheet.
  3. Top each puff pastry square with a slice of mozzarella (or a mini mozzarella ball) and a cherry tomato half.
  4. Bake for 12–15 minutes until puff pastry is golden and cheese is slightly melted.
  5. Remove from oven, sprinkle lightly with sea salt flakes, and top with fresh basil leaves.
  6. Drizzle balsamic glaze over each bite just before serving.
  7. Serve warm or at room temperature.
