Description

Amatriciana is a flavorful Italian pasta dish featuring a rich tomato sauce made with ground beef, onions, garlic, and a touch of crushed red pepper flakes for heat. Served over linguine and topped with fresh basil and Parmesan, it’s a comforting and satisfying meal.

  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 2 (14.5 ounce) cans stewed tomatoes
  • 1 pound linguine pasta, uncooked
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh basil
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, cook the diced ground beef over medium heat until browned. Remove the excess fat.
  2. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet with the beef. Sauté until the onion becomes translucent.
  3. Stir in the crushed red pepper flakes and stewed tomatoes. Simmer the sauce on low heat for 10-15 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
  4. Meanwhile, cook the linguine pasta according to the package directions. Drain and set aside.
  5. Toss the cooked pasta with the Amatriciana sauce until well-coated.
  6. Serve the pasta in bowls, garnished with fresh basil and a sprinkle of grated Parmesan cheese.

Notes

  • For a richer sauce, you can add a splash of red wine while simmering the tomatoes.
  • If you prefer a spicier kick, increase the amount of crushed red pepper flakes.
