Description

Air Fryer Crispy Onions are a light and crunchy topping made with thinly sliced onions, seasoned flour, and a quick air-fry—perfect for casseroles, burgers, salads, or snacking.


Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • Avocado oil cooking spray

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix together flour, cayenne pepper, and salt.
  2. Add the thinly sliced onions and toss until they are evenly coated in the seasoned flour mixture.
  3. Preheat the air fryer to 300°F (150°C) for a few minutes.
  4. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with avocado oil spray.
  5. Spread the coated onions in a thin, even layer in the basket. Spray the tops with a light coating of oil.
  6. Air fry for 10–15 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until onions are golden brown and crispy.
  7. Remove from the air fryer and let cool slightly to crisp up further before serving.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, air fry in smaller batches.
  • Adjust cayenne for more or less heat.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container to maintain crunch.
  • Great as a topping for green bean casserole or burgers.
