- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon salt, or to taste
- 1 onion, thinly sliced
- Avocado oil cooking spray
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix together flour, cayenne pepper, and salt.
- Add the thinly sliced onions and toss until they are evenly coated in the seasoned flour mixture.
- Preheat the air fryer to 300°F (150°C) for a few minutes.
- Lightly spray the air fryer basket with avocado oil spray.
- Spread the coated onions in a thin, even layer in the basket. Spray the tops with a light coating of oil.
- Air fry for 10–15 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until onions are golden brown and crispy.
- Remove from the air fryer and let cool slightly to crisp up further before serving.
Notes
- For extra crispiness, air fry in smaller batches.
- Adjust cayenne for more or less heat.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container to maintain crunch.
- Great as a topping for green bean casserole or burgers.
