- 1 pound fresh ahi tuna steak, finely chopped
- 4 burger buns, lightly toasted
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons sriracha sauce
- 4 large lettuce leaves
- 1/2 cup shredded carrot
- 1/2 cup shredded red cabbage
- 2 tablespoons green onions, finely sliced
- 1 whole lime, juiced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, freshly ground
Instructions
- Finely chop the ahi tuna into small pieces and place in a mixing bowl.
- Add sliced green onions, lime juice, salt, and black pepper. Gently mix to combine without overworking the tuna.
- Form the mixture into 4 equal patties and refrigerate for 10 minutes to help them firm up.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Place tuna patties in the skillet and cook for 2 to 3 minutes per side until lightly seared on the outside and still tender inside.
- In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise and sriracha sauce to create the aioli.
- Lightly toast the burger buns.
- Spread sriracha aioli on the buns, add lettuce, tuna patty, shredded carrot, shredded red cabbage, and top bun. Serve immediately.
Notes
- Do not overcook the tuna to keep the patties moist.
- Keep the tuna chilled until ready to cook for best texture.
- Adjust the amount of sriracha for desired spice level.
- Store cooked patties in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
